My lifelong interest in science fiction has also made me interested in virtual reality and 3D graphics.

Years ago Sega sold liquid crystal shutter glasses for their console system for about $50. I designed and built an interface that connects them to a Mac serial port.

The glasses allow you to present stereo 3D images on computer screens. Very 3D, and very cool stuff.

You can't buy the interface, but you should be able to find the glasses and you can use my instructions to build your own interface. There's also some source code that still works - at least well enough to get you started.
